MCCC GP TRAINING

Doctors of Eaglehawk Medical Group have been training GP Registrars for over 15 years.  Our supervisors are committed to a high quality training experience and encourage our registrars to become a valuable part of our practice team while they are here.

We work closely with the training body to ensure all training requirements are met and that the registrars enjoy their time at our practice.

Working conditions and remuneration are as per the current National Terms and Conditions.

Full time GP Registrars participate in our after hours roster.  On call week nights is generally one night per week and one weekend in five (may be more during leave periods for other Doctors).  This is not onerous as there are very few calls.

Our local PHN is actively involved with GP registrars and provides many CPD activities during the year.

Eaglehawk Medical Group was established in 1994.  Our Doctors run their own practice from a purpose built building with five consulting rooms and a fully equipped treatment room.

Our practice has been fully accredited since 1999 and we have just completed our 7th round of accreditation.  We keep up to date with all aspects of general practice and our staff have access to continual personal development.

Dr Doug Barrett, Dr Tali Barrett and Dr Rick Duke are three of the original associates and have been joined by Dr Patrick Duane, Dr Saira Baloch and now Dr Julian Hua.

We have a Registered Practice Nurse Manager who takes charge of our Treatment Room and assists Doctors with minor surgeries, ecg’s, wound management and dressings, immunisations, travel vax, ear syringes and all aspects of practice nursing.    Our support Nurses assist with home health assessments and general clinical triage.

Our five receptionists are all long term employees with a wealth of experience in handling all matters for our patients, and our Practice Manager is happy to share knowledge regarding all aspects of maintaining an efficient medical practice.

Eaglehawk Medical Group is approximately 5kms from Bendigo Hospital which provides a fully staffed casualty department with a Bendigo Health Care Group providing a comprehensive range of specialists including geriatric and rehabilitation services.

St John of God is the local private hospital.

We are a friendly practice with Doctors and staff working as a team to provide high quality ongoing health and well-being management to our patients.

We are actively involved with our local PHN who provide many CPD activities through the year.

Eaglehawk is located approximately 6 kms from central Bendigo, a travel time of about 10 minutes.  The locals have a proud history dating back to the early goldfields within the Bendigo area.   The community provides a range of sporting facilities including baseball, swimming pool, fitness centres, badminton, football, netball, and pony club.  There are primary and secondary schools plus pre-school and child care centres well established locally.   We have a privately run movie theatre located in the Town Hall which was originally built in 1865!
